GRE Coaching Classes – The GRE – Graduate Record Examination- is administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS). It is primarily a multiple-choice test used by graduate and business schools for admission of students into their graduate and doctoral programs. The General Test measures abilities in verbal, quantitative and analytical fields which are needed for graduate or business school. It is offered round the year and can be taken once every 21 days, up to five times within a continuous rolling 12-month period.

Prospective applicants interested in pursuing a master’s degree, specialized master’s in business or doctoral degree, especially in USA can take this test. GRE scores are used by institutes in addition to undergraduate records, recommendation letters and other qualifications for graduate-level study. Colleges and universities in other countries also accept GRE scores for admissions.

Importance of GRE Coaching Classes

Test format

The GRE is a computer adaptive test and the testing time is 3 hours 45 minutes. There are 6 sections: a)Analytical Writing (One section with two separately timed tasks), b) Verbal Reasoning (Two sections) and c) Quantitative Reasoning (Two sections).

The Analytical Writing section has one “Analyze an Issue” task and one “Analyze an Argument” task. Both tasks are allotted 30 mins each. Both the Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning section have 20 questions each and are allotted 30 mins and 35 min respectively.

Scores for both the Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning sections are reported on a 130–170 score scale, in 1-point increments. The Analytical Writing score is reported on a 0–6 score scale, in half-point increments. Any section where no questions have been answered will be reported as a No Score (NS).

The test has 2 modes: paper based and computer based. In India, only the computer based format is available. The scores of the GRE is valid for 5 years.

GRE test is also offered at home. Just run a system check test to ensure all the applications are closed and click Start Your Test at the appointment time. The proctor will have access to your computer screen for monitoring purposes. The testing is available around the clock, seven days a week.

The only difference between test at home and centre is that at home you are using your own equipment, and you are monitored online by a human proctor.

Test fees and registration

The fee for the GRE exam is US$ 213.

You can register for the test in the following ways:

Online – To register online you need to have or create a My GRE Account

Phone – call the appropriate registration centre at least two business days before your preferred test date.

Mail – The form must be received at the appropriate registration centre at least three weeks before your earliest test date choice. The score can be sent up to 4 universities free of cost at the time of GRE exam. ETS charges US $27 per recipient for sending additional scores later.
