Common Management Admission Test
Entrance Exam Coaching Classes – The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level entrance test for admission in all management programs approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The test was first conducted in 2012 and from 2014 onwards is also conducted in foreign countries to enable eligible NRIs and POIs, seeking admission in Indian management institutions, to write the test.
Importance of CMAT Coaching Classes
Eligibility
In order to appear for this test, a candidate must have a recognized bachelor’s degree. Candidates who have appeared in the final year exams of Bachelor’s degree program and are awaiting results are also eligible.
Test format
CMAT is a computer-based test, which is conducted twice a year. Each candidate is eligible to appear in both the exams and the better of the two scores will be used for the admission. The first test is usually conducted in September and the second in February.
The test is of 180 minutes and has 4 sections: a) Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation b) Logical Reasoning c) Language Comprehension and d) General Awareness
Each section has 25 questions and is scored out of 100. For each correct answer there are 4 marks and for each wrong answer 1 mark is deducted.
Test fees and registration
The test fee is Rs 1200 for general candidates and Rs 600 for SC/ST/PWD candidates. The registration fee can be paid either online or by depositing cash in any branch of State Bank of India.
The registration is also done online; therefore one needs a valid email id will be used at least for the next 6 months. A scanned clear photo and a scanned signature (both on a white background) will also be required.
The test is conducted in many cities all over India and you can select up to 3 cities in order of preference of your choice of test city. The first choice will be given due consideration. However, actual allotment will be subject to availability of the slot in that particular city.

The CMAT is accepted by many management institutions across the country. Some of the are: Sydenham Institute of Management Studies , K.J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research , Prof L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research , Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Management – all in Mumbai; Apeejay School of Management, New Delhi Institute of Management, Jamia Millia Islamia – in New Delhi; Goa Institute of Management; Xavier labour Relations Institute(XLRI), etc.
