CAT Coaching Classes
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is an all-India entrance test, conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for admission in to their post-graduate programs. The CAT score is also used by other institutes for admission into their management programs as well. Generally the CAT score is taken into consideration along with other parameters like academic performance, work experience, group discussion and interview performance. The CAT is considered as one of the most challenging test for students who plan to study in India’s prestigious management schools.
To apply, a general candidate must be a graduate with 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. SC/ST/DA/PWD candidates should have 45% or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
Candidates appearing for the final year of any bachelor’s degree / equivalent qualification examination and those who are awaiting results can also apply.
The CAT is a computer based test. The questions will be presented on a computer screen and the candidate chooses an answer by clicking on the correct option.
There are 2 sections to the test with 30 questions each: Section 1- Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and Section 2- Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning. Each section will be of 1 hour and 10 minutes and will be timed separately. An onscreen timer will be available to all the candidates.
The candidates also get a 15 minute tutorial at the beginning on how to take the test. The total duration of the test is 2 hours and 35 minutes, including the tutorial.
The scores are calculated for each section based on the number of questions answered correctly, incorrectly, or omitted. 3 points are given for each correct answer and 1 point deducted for each incorrect one.
