What is Modelling?

Modelling is considered glamorous, thrilling and lucrative. The two main areas of Modelling are for fashion shows and for fashion photographs. Fashion Modelling focuses on clothing design and manufacture. The trend setting fashion houses produce collections of exclusively designed garments or even accessories. The sudden spurt in the fashion industry that was the outcome of the liberalized regime gave a tremendous boost to the Modelling profession.

When Can I Enroll for Modelling?

Entry to this profession is usually through a break with an advertising agency, photographer or fashion designer. Winners of beauty contest, in particular the Miss India contest is also expected to sign a contract with the sponsoring company and thus have their career laid for them. Modelling is a profession where educational qualifications become insignificant and physical attributes and personal qualities assume importance. There is no specific qualification or age limit to enter into this field. First step for making an entry is to prepare a portfolio. This consists of a series of photographs taken by a professional photographer.
