Cost & Scholarships In Canada

There are a range of Canada Scholarships available for students wishing to study, which can provide help with funds for your study. Students must meet the costs of study and living in Canada. The Citizenship and Immigration Department of Canada requires proof that the student has sufficient money available. If the institution provides a cost of living estimate, the immigration officer will generally follow it.

These expenses mainly depend on the location and life style of the students as well. The cost of living does not include tuition and other student fees. These expenses may vary from university to university.

Students may be allowed to work on or off campus depending upon the university you study in. Citizenship and Immigration Canada allows international students to work in Canada in limited situations. Students however are required to arrive in Canada with sufficient money to live and pay their bills while studying.

The expenses involved to study abroad would include cost of living along with the tuition fees. The cost of living depends on the place where one wants to stay & also the lifestyle, for e.g. the cost of living in cities like Toronto, Vancouver, etc is a little expensive as compared to other places.

There are plenty of scholarships in Canada that are offered to students from all over the world.
  • Merit based assistance is awarded in many forms, like tuition waivers, assistantships, or fellowships. Students will have a greater chance of getting financial aid if they have a high level of academic achievement along with high GRE/GMAT/TOEFL or have an outstanding letter of recommendation and an impressive statement of purpose.
  • However, obtaining a scholarship is very competitive and applications must be made directly to each university along with the application for admission. Some universities offer scholarships at the time of the admissions, while some may offer them later.

It also depends on the student’s performance at the university during the tenure of his/her course. A student needs to send a separate application for the scholarship complete with details of student’s financial status. Some universities, however, consider the application form itself as an application for a scholarship.
